Chiropractic care is a healthcare modality that is centered on harnessing the body’s natural ability to heal itself—without drug use or surgery. The focus of chiropractic care is on the relationship between the body’s structure (the spine in particular) and the many functions coordinated by the nervous system. By using both time-tested and cutting-edge chiropractic techniques to ensure the health of the spine, chiropractic care at Sea Girt Spine and Rehabilitation allows the body to work at full capacity in terms of both healing, pain reduction, and functioning.
Under the direction of Dr. Joseph Petrone, D.C., chiropractic care at Sea Girt Spine and Rehabilitation specializes in a truly hands-on, compassionate approach that uses the latest and best tools and practices. Working closely with our physical therapy, acupuncture, and massage therapy departments, services in our Sea Girt Office include a variety of methods in order to provide the care necessary for each patient’s particular condition.
Manual Adjustment is a chiropractic approach that uses the force of the chiropractor’s hands; no instruments are used. The Diversified Technique, for example, applies force to specific joints in the spine. Using this approach, subluxations are detected and addressed for the purpose of increasing motion in the joints, assuring the proper alignment of the spine, stimulating the nervous system, and stretching the muscles surrounding the joints. Diversified is often effective in treating back pain. Other hands-on treatments include the Gonstead Technique (for total spinal adjustment) as well as the Sacral Occipital Technique.
The Activator Method uses an adjustment tool to provide low-force adjustments. This hand-held instrument provides gentle adjustment suitable for patients of all ages. It is quick and gentle enough for nervous children, as well as safe for older patients suffering from osteoarthritis. The purpose of using the Activator Method is to widen the scope of patients that can be treated with chiropractic care.
